Silk Care

Silk contains natural antimicrobial, antibacterial and antiviral properties. It will soften over time yet remain very durable. Enjoy the beauty and wear for years to come! Please contact us if you have any questions.

How to Heat Set

Do you have silk from a Water-Marbling Workshop?

Your water-marbled silk scarf needs to be “heat-set” 24 hours after it was pulled out of the water. Heat setting locks the color onto fibers allowing for normal laundering.  A clothes iron is recommended for best results. Then follow the after care washing instructions before you wear it.

Preferred method: Place the silk face-down (the side with paint) on an ironing board. Set the clothes iron on a silk-safe or low-temperature setting. Place a cotton cloth on top of the silk and iron for 60 seconds. Do not use steam.

Alternate method: Place the silk separately in the clothes dryer. Dry on high heat for 10 minutes.

After Care

Wash your silk scarf before wearing it. Always hand wash silk separately using cool/lukewarm water and a mild detergent (like Woolite). Fabric softener is optional. Roll the wet scarf in a towel (or paper towel) to absorb excess moisture and then hang to dry or iron.

Always use a silk-safe or the lowest cotton setting and use low steam if the silk is dry. Place the silk scarf face down (the side with paint) on an ironing table and cover with a cotton cloth. Iron about 60 seconds or until dry.
More tips:
  • Low steam on dry silk helps remove wrinkles.
  • Fabric softener will help make your silk even softer over time.
  • Some vibrant colored silk scarves might bleed a little the first few washes, so always wash separately.
