A Scarf with a Purpose

I know that the statement in the title has been repeated throughout this site, but it's incredibly important to me.  I have severe chronic neutropenia and spend a lot of my time sitting in doctor's offices-specifically Hematology/Oncology. I sit next to people who are very sick-some even dying. Some are alone, others are not. There's always this one little table that has beautiful knitted hats that people make and donate and, for a while now,  I've wanted to add a hand dyed silk scarf to it. Up until recently, though, I didn't know what I wanted them to say.  I know now.  I want the message on the scarf to resonate so strongly within the person that they find hope.  I want them to wear the scarf and not see themselves as sick, but beautiful and strong.  I want them to smile with joy.  Finally, I want them to know that in this world there is love. Someone loves you and believes in you.  That's me.

Hello world. My name is Chrissy Kay and I am the artist behind Glory and Grace Silks. I am a Coast Guard spouse and I absolutely love hearing the story behind every piece of art I come across.  I am really blessed and I'm thankful to be able to share my  love of art with you. Thank you for letting me!

Glory and Grace Silks gives back. We call it "A scarf with a purpose".
For every 9 scarves we sell, we'll design and donate one with an inspirational message to a hematology/oncology clinic in Hampton Roads. Thanks for helping us spread some love.
